Verification and Independence
What our reporting found
Integral Ad Science and DoubleVerify sell advertisers the same thing: an independent referee for the impressions they buy. In 2026 both changed hands. Nielsen agreed to buy DoubleVerify for $2.15 billion, and DoubleVerify's own proxy shows Nielsen wrote itself the right to refuse behavioral remedies, with the shareholder vote set for October 29. IAS was bought with debt that its clients' fees now pay down, and it owns the ad server Viant runs on. ADOTAT's reporting follows what independence means once the referee is owned by the measured, and the Field Kit gives buyers six questions to ask before they renew.
