Facebook Stepping up their Paid Content Program

Facebook is expanding their successful branded content option to additional brands. Along with this expansion, they are making some important updates to their policies and taking steps to ensure the branded content is obviously an advertisement by having it marked as ‘paid.’ Identifying any type of content as paid is legally necessary if the publisher is receiving any type of compensation.

The branded content program has been available to verified Facebook page owners for more than a year now. This option is being rolled out to pages that aren’t necessarily verified, which will dramatically grow the number of potential advertisements of this nature.

Page owners just need to get in touch with Facebook via an online application, and they can get access to the tool necessary to publish this type of content. This process is automated so that there aren’t any delays in getting approved and started with publishing branded content.

This update applies not only to written posts, but also pictures and videos where those running pages are promoting some type of product, and other types of posts on Facebook.
