Revenue Sharing System to Launch from Twitter

Video creators are about to get a new potential revenue stream.  Twitter is going to give video content creators the ability to get paid for the revenue they generate for the company.  This is something that YouTube and Facebook already do, so Twitter is a little late to the party.

To try to attract top video creators, however, Twitter is offering about 70% of the total ad revenue, which is a nice bump up from the roughly50% that Facebook and YouTube are currently offering.

The idea is clearly to bring top content creators to (or back to) Twitter, which is essential to boost their site, which has been struggling lately.

Of course, since Twitter is really playing catch up here, it may be difficult for them to bring in too many video creators, especially those who already have major audiences built up on the other major platforms.

Content creators will, of course, be able to publish their videos across multiple platforms though, so it may very well attract people who just want to grow their existing audience onto Twitter.
