Domino’s Pizza has decided to back out of the a free pizza promotion with T-Mobile, after they said they could not handle the demand for the free pizza from T-Mobile users. The “un-carrier” recently launched its T-Mobile Tuesdays app on iOS and Android in a bid to say thank you to its customers for their loyalty. Among other freebies, T-Mobile offered coupons entitling customers to a free Domino’s medium pizza with toppings.
Unfortunately, as one representative joked with us on the phone, “Americans eat too much, and they just couldn’t handle all the orders…”
Americans so love their pizza that the T-Mobile CEO, John Legere got on Twitter himself to explain the issues, and apologize. He didn’t however offer a solution nor offer to deliver the pizzas themselves.
Problem was that despite the promises of the free pizza, many locations were refusing to honor the coupons, either because of demand or they were not familiar with the promotion. Unfortunately the problem was that those with family accounts could get multiple free pizzas, and some people were ordering as many as 5-6 at a time.
To benefit from T-Mobile Tuesdays, you simply need to be a T-Mobile customer, and download the iOS or Android app from the respective app store. Then, wait for Tuesday, and go redeem your free gift.
Oh, and be nice to the employees. They are forced to eat the pizza daily.
