Lawyers Run The WorldAmazon Going After Buyers of Fake Reviews Hard

Amazon Going After Buyers of Fake Reviews Hard

Amazon has gotten a lot of attention in the past for suing people and companies that either write fake reviews about their own products or offer to create fake reviews for other people.  They have successfully sued over 1000 companies and businesses for this over the past several years.  Many of them have settled out of court.  This legal action has been an excellent deterrent for many people to stop doing this type of work.

Recently, however, Amazon has escalated this practice to the next level.  They are now also suing individuals and companies that are buying these fake reviews from other people or companies.  The story found that there are currently three new legal cases against buyers of these types of reviews.

The defendants in the cases are Michael Abbara of California, Kurt Bauer of Pennsylvania and CCBetter Direct, which is a Chinese company.

So, if you have a product that you are selling on Amazon, make sure you are NEVER writing fake reviews for your own products or buying reviews written by other people who have not even used your product.  It is never acceptable, according to the Amazon TOS, to pay people to write a favorable review of your product (or a negative one of a competitor’s product).

One of the things that users of Amazon love is that they can get honest and unbiased reviews about product before they buy them, and Amazon is clearly taking this very seriously.
