Lead Gen being Tested by Facebook

Facebook has recently announced that they are testing a new ad format that is designed to help improve the lead generation and acquisition process on mobile devices.  The ads will be called ‘lead ads’ and will appear quite similar to their existing ad formats.  The big difference that exists is that when users click on the button, an in-app form will be generated and populate, which is then transferred to an external landing page.

The information is filled out using Facebook’s information so that the user doesn’t have much they need to do on their own.  Facebook, of course, has common information on file about their users, which will make it a lot easier for brands and users to submit these forms, especially on mobile devices.

In addition to the lead ads, Facebook is also testing “Buy Products Ads” that will allow users to make purchases from a business without ever having to leave the Facebook app.  This will make it much easier for consumers to make purchases, which will benefit advertisers greatly.  This type of ad works like the lead ads in that it will automatically provide the information to the business.  Facebook will even allow users to store payment information on their account to make purchases even simpler.
