BIdVest Media is a part of the Bidvest Group, has purchased a majority stake Retroviral Digital Communications. Retroviral specializes in using social media to create word-of-mouth advertising and marketing successful. While Retroviral is a fairly small company, the purchase will help Bidvest move more heavily into digital marketing. The company is currently focused on sports marketing and travel and aviation marketing.
Bidvest Media’s CEO, Neil Jankelowitz, said of the acquisition, “Bidvest Media is determined to take advantage of the global trend toward the seamless integration of the physical world and digital worlds, via organic expansion and strategic acquisitions. The Bidvest Media division is a rapidly expanding entity within the Bidvest Group.” He went on to say, “The acquisition of the majority stake in Retroviral is a strategic investment as Retroviral has the capabilities to offer digital marketing services to the entire Bidvest Group.”
Retroviral’s employees and management will stay on and operate as they have before, at least for now. The company will still be run by co-founder Mike Sharman, who also retains a minority interest in the ownership of the company.
