Dr.Oz has had enough of his name being used without permission and has decided to go after Brian Hamilton and Private Label Nutraceuticals (PLN), a company we have interviewed several times at Performance Marketing Insider. Dr.Oz even went as far to show the drunk owners of PLN being interviewed by one of our staff members in a report at an industry party. Unfortunately for PLN, the story isn’t terrible good as it exposes that their products aren’t just using Dr.Oz’s name without permission but also make some claims that the products aren’t even remotely what they claim to be. Dr. Oz’s team even went undercover and interviewed Brian Hamilton, who admits that even the bad press from Dr.Oz has helped their business.
PLN Bills itself, for those who don’t know: “Private Label Nutraceuticals is your trusted supplement and vitamin manufacturer – we employ highly skilled laboratory scientists and formulators to provide our clients with in depth research & development, quality control testing, and product analysis to ensure that you receive outstanding quality products. Our highly efficient, streamlined system, along with our large volume capabilities, allows us to offer low pricing and fast turnaround times. In the rapidly evolving nutraceutical market, it is important to have a supplement manufacturer that can help you stay ahead of your competition. We aim to meet and exceed your vitamin manufacturer requirements!”
According to Wellbuzz.com, the products that were being sold were a scam:
Brian did give Dr. Oz’s team samples of their products, including Garcinia Cambogia, Green Coffee, and Forskolin. Dr. Oz also bought some of the products online.
Both samples were sent to a lab to be tested twice. Dr. Oz talked to Tod Cooperman from Consumer Lab. He said that every single one of the products sent by Private Label failed their test. They didn’t contain the listed amount of active ingredients on the label. The products bought online were a little bit different. The Forskolin passed the test, but the Garcinia Cambogia and the Green Coffee failed.
This raises a lot of questions about PLN’s business, and any partner’s potential liability. However, it does raise some questions if this is nothing more than a way for Dr.Oz to throw off the attacks he’s received for his questionable stories about these products in the first place: that they may never even work, with or without Dr.Oz’s recommendation. Up to you to decide.
