For many marketers, one of the hardest things to figure out is how to create the content that they need to promote their products. In today’s digital world, content is used more than ever to get people’s points across. This could be written content like news items, blog posts and reports. It could also be a script for a radio ad, television commercial or YouTube video.
Whatever the use, there is no doubt that high quality content is absolutely essential for any successful marketer. The question is, who should create that content.
A new survey by Ascend2 found that only 15% of marketers believe that having an in-house content creation solution is the best way to go. Of the 85% that think outsourcing is a good idea, 10% of them outsource 100% of their content creation and the rest have a combination of in-house creation and outsourced.
One of the reasons that outsourcing is so popular, according to the survey, is that it allows you to put up content on a very regular basis. For most people, creating an interesting blog post can take hours, or even days. Combine this with the fact that you should ideally be posting new content at least a couple times per week and you can see how doing all your own content creation can eat up all your time.
Another reason given is that many marketers aren’t that great at content creation. For example, if a marketer speaks English as a second language, they may not be able to write an article that flows well and holds the interest of the reader.
What virtually all marketers agreed on, however, is that you absolutely must have a content creation plan in place. This is important because it is so easy to keep putting this activity off, until you realize that it has been over a month since anything has been published. Whether you do your own content creation, or you outsource it to a freelance writer, make sure you have a schedule that you stick to when it comes to publishing new content. This will help your sites rank better, keep your visitors interested, and over time, increase overall conversion rates.
