Possible new Facebook Feature – Scheduling Deletion of Posts

Facebook has confirmed that they are testing out a new feature with a small number of business users.  The feature would allow you to set a deletion date on your posts when you create them.  This is an excellent idea for businesses, and even the average user could likely find a great way to use it.

An example of how this could be used would be for businesses running temporary sales.  If you make a post that says, “50% off the Entire Site” for the sale, that post will be visible forever, unless you manually remove it.  Customers in the future can see that and be discouraged from paying full price.

If the new feature is rolled out, you can put up the post with an ‘expiration date’ that will delete it at the end of the sale.  This way you can have all the benefits of promoting things on Facebook, without having to remember to go back and delete it down the road.

Whether or not this feature will get the thumbs up from Facebook is not yet clear.  It seems to me, however, that this is a great feature that many people would find very valuable.  What are your thoughts?  How would you use this feature?
