Keeping up to date on the latest trends in marketing and compliance is essential for all performance marketers.  With that in mind, everyone should take some time to review the latest report from PerformLine titled, “Marketing Compliance Trends.”  This report contains a number of key statistics that everyone should be aware of.

For example, this report has found that there has been a significant jump in the percentage of websites that don’t have any potential violations of marketing laws or regulations.  The percentages were determined by looking at either the presence of banned language or required language that is missing on the page.  When PerformLine took stats in January of 2014 they found that only 11% of sites did not have any potential violations.  In June of this year that number went up to 20%.  This is clearly an indication that marketers are taking compliance more seriously than ever.

The report looked at a number of key verticals, and then analyzed which of the top keywords were triggering the most pages with violations on them.  In the education vertical, for example, when people are searching for words like scholarship, FAFSA, and salary, they are likely to land on a website that is violating at least one law or regulation.

Looking through this data, and the other included information in this brief infographic style report can help marketers to identify potential areas where they may be in violation, so they can make improvements.  The overall trend in marketing seems to be toward higher rates of compliance, which is certainly a good thing.
