In what is becoming a fairly rare event, Google has officially announced that they are pushing out an update to the Panda algorithm changes. This update is made to help the search engine to identify websites that have low-quality content (and presumably punish it in the rankings).
There have been many updates over the past several years, some of them announced and some not. This one is being dubbed by most industry experts as Panda 4.1, though that is not official .
As with any algorithm change, it will take some days and weeks to figure out who exactly is impacted and why, but the bottom line is this is just one more move by Google to help promote high quality content.
Any marketers who are still pushing out poorly written or produced content will likely see their rankings fall, and the amount of traffic they are getting will follow suit. Google has been very open about the fact that they want all the sites in their rankings to have high quality content that can actually benefit the reader, so this update should really not be a surprise to anyone.
