TiVo, which is a leader in consumer DVR products and services, ended their affiliate program several years ago. According to a recent announcement, however, they are bringing it back, and with some significant changes. The biggest adjustment from their old program is that they are moving away from Commission Junction, which ran their program in the past. The new affiliate program is being managed and hosted by Share-A-Sale, which has been growing in popularity over the past several years.
The new marketing platform will provide affiliates with a $100 commission for any sale of their Roamio DVR systems. These systems range in price from $199 to $599 (plus service), depending on the specific model. For all their other products, TiVo is offering a 10% commission rate to those who promote their products.
TiVo was one of the innovators of the DVR systems, which now come fairly standard with many cable and satellite television systems. This affiliate program may be an attempt by TiVo to grow their subscriber base which dropped due to this type of competition. TiVo is largely marketing their services to people living in urban areas, who get television from HD antennas. The TiVo is one of the only DVR systems that work on this type of television reception.
Whatever the reason, the re-launching of their affiliate program is a welcome announcement from many affiliates who are looking to benefit from the nice commissions, and good name recognition that TiVo have to offer. Look at their program here
