It’s been over four years now since Essociate started suing what seems to be everyone in the industry. This was based on a 2004 parent 6,804,660 that was filed that claimed that Evan Horowitz and Michael Landau “invented” a method for “virtual affiliates” to have access to a current affiliate system.
Basically, if you haven’t been paying attention, this allows affiliate networks to work with other affiliate networks. If you have been paying attention, you probably know that most of the industry thinks this is ridiculous, but more people have settled in order to prevent extensive legal costs and the shut down of their business.
Whatever you may think of Evan Horowitz, he’s a pretty smart guy, and is making a lot of money suing people based on this parent. In fact, if he gets his way, he’ll be suing the entire industry and be one rich kid for the rest of his life.
Now he’s going after Integrate.com, founded by playboy millionaire and former professional athlete Jeremy Bloom. Integrate.com has gone through tons of different business models but now it seems it’s a software and media marketplace rolled up into one. Evan Horowitz isn’t going to sit by and allow that. Here’s the lawsuit below.
