Affiliate Nexus Tax Impacts Over 28% of Affiliates

A survey of over 1600 affiliates asking about methods, strategies, preferences and (most importantly) the impact of the Affiliate Nexus tax on their businesses.  The survey was done for the annual Affiliate Summit AffStat report.  The results concerning the impact of the Affiliate Nexus Tax were quite concerning.  For this question, Affiliates were asked, “How many programs have you been removed from based on state legislation?”

While 71.2% said that they weren’t removed from any programs due to state legislation, many were removed from multiple programs.  The breakdown was as follows:

  • 19.6% of affiliates were removed from 1-9 programs
  • 6.5% of affiliates were removed from 10-24 programs
  • .7% of affiliates were removed from 25-50 programs
  • 2 % of affiliates were removed from over 50% of programs

Adding up to nearly 30% of affiliates being severely impacted by state legislation, it is clear that this is a huge concern for all affiliate marketers.  Even those who have not yet experienced these issues will want to stay on top of the increasingly hostile legislation that is being introduced across the country.  These new taxes and other laws are directly impacting the livelihoods of marketers everywhere, and if they continue, it could threaten the entire industry.

You can see more about this report on the affState website, HERE.
