Google+ recently announced that they have made it easier than ever for individuals and companies to publish audio files directly to their timelines. Using embedded Soundcloud widgets it will be possible to quickly and easily share audio files with anyone using Google’s social network. This is yet one more way for marketers to share content with potential customers to help them build brand loyalty and recognition through social marketing.
With video content marketing becoming increasingly popular, this may seem like a feature whose time has already passed, but Google & Soundcloud believe that audio marketing, and the sharing of audio files can still attract a significant number of listeners. According to a recent report, 84% OF Americans watch or listen to recorded webinars in the days and weeks after the live event, which may show that audio content is still a valid way of marketing.
Marketers are already aware that content of any type, whether audio, video or written, is essential to their long term success. Having a diverse set of advertising and marketing tools available for their content marketing just makes good sense. Whether it will catch on, and become a staple in content marketing, of course, remains to be seen.
