Google’s Matt Cutts has confirmed that there is another algorithm update which is going to be slowly rolled out over the course of the next several weeks. It was confirmed that the updates started this week and will go through at least the week after July 4th. The question is, however, what is the update for. There has been speculation that it is a minor tweaking to the latest Panda update, but others think it will be focused on the Payday Loan algorithm which has some known issues.
Of course, it could be an entirely new change or a combination of both as well. Google is not giving any information about what the update will affect or whether it is a global update or more focused on the US this time. The main reason people even know that this update is taking place is because some people noticed that their search results were looking spammy so they asked Cutts on his Twitter feed if something was going on.
Matt confirmed that there were changes being put in, but would say little else about it. Due to the tight lipped nature of this update so far the Internet marketing community is naturally creating rumors, speculations and assumptions like wild. It will be difficult to sort out the fact from the fiction for the next several weeks, but at this point at least it seems like this is going to be a fairly focused update, though even that is not certain.
