It seems like May has been the month of Google updates across virtually all of their major platforms. They recently released AdWords Editor 10.1 which offers users of the AdWords platform to perform a variety of advanced tasks which can help them improve the results of their campaigns. The changes include options for updating their campaigns including making bulk adjustments to a variety of settings concerning the audience, placement and topics of the keywords targeted.
There are also several improved options for adjusting mobile AdWords campaigns, including adjusting the bidding for them. Most people agree that there were several overall improvements directed toward mobile ads, which is yet another indication of the importance of this type of advertising both today and into the future.
These improvements, along with the announcement of the upcoming ability to have AdWords ads display directly on Google Maps results are showing that Google is still passionate about their advertising business.
One issue with these updates is they seem to be primarily focused on large companies which run dozens or even hundreds of different campaigns at a time. It does make sense for Google to focus on these larger customers, but hopefully not at the expense of the more casual users. With thousands of individuals and small businesses looking to use AdWords to bring targeted traffic it is important for Google to give them an innovative platform to manage their advertisements as well.
Google AdWords continues to be the dominant advertisement provider online, but there are many alternatives which are continuing to gain popularity. Thus far Google has managed to continue to remain innovative and competitive, but it is sometimes difficult for such large companies to maintain that edge over smaller competition.
Have you tried out any of the new features since the updates of the AdWords platform? If so, what did you think about it? If not, do you plan on using it in the future?
